Opening of a RO3.5mn inspection station for agriculture and food products in Sohar

Sohar – The Sohar logistics station for the inspection of agricultural, fisheries, livestock and food consignments in North Batinah Governorate was opened on Monday. The project costs RO3.5mn.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HE Dr. Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, who affirmed the importance of the facility in serving the beneficiaries of the Governorates of North Batinah, South Batinah, Buraimi and Musandam, including other adjacent governorates and ports.

HE Habsi informed that the Sohar logistics station will contribute to the marketing and export of agricultural, fishery and food products. The facility is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and Al Madina Logistics Services Company.

β€œIt serves as an example of services rendered to the private sector in terms of importing, exporting and tracking products leaving or entering the sultanate,” he said.

The Sohar logistics station comprises several refrigerated units where shipments of fresh fish and marine products are inspected alongside other products like vegetables and fruits.

The facility also inspects livestock and offers customs clearance, laboratory and container services. It includes truck parking lots, cold stores, shops and customer service counters.
