Named Vox Ariane, the high specification dredge has a hopper capacity of 10,500 m3 and can run on LNG. Keppel O&M is also currently building two other identical dredges for Van Oord, named Vox Apolonia and Vox Alexia.
“We are delighted to deliver the first Singapore-built dual-fuel dredger to Van Oord. This is the sixth dredge delivered by Keppel O&M, extending our experience in the dredging industry,” said Tan Leong Peng, General Manager (New Construction) at Keppel O&M.
Built to International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III regulations, the Dutch-flagged Vox Ariane includes several features that significantly reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. It is also equipped with sustainable systems and has obtained the Green Passport and Clean Ship Rating by Bureau Veritas.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the Vox Ariane, the first LNG carrier dredger in our fleet. This dredge, which will strengthen the middle class section of our TSHD fleet, illustrates our commitment to making our fleet more economical and energy efficient,” commented aap de Jong, Director of the Vessel Management Department of Van Oord.
“Keppel O&M has demonstrated professionalism and agility in overcoming the challenges posed by Covid-19 to complete this quality dredge safely, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the upcoming delivery of the next two dredges.”
