Foss Maritime appoints Mack COO

Foss Maritime COO Chris Mack, Jr.

Chris Mack Jr. has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Seattle Saltchuk Group Foss Maritime member. In this role, Mack is responsible for all Foss Maritime port services activities focused on operational excellence, including safety, operational efficiency, service delivery, technical management, organizational well-being, including engagement and development. He will oversee Foss’ marine insurance, human resources and labor, fleet engineering and regional management teams in Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii.

Mack joined Foss Maritime in 2005 as an Able Seaman in its Ocean Fleet. He held several deck positions before moving ashore in 2011. He has held several positions ashore over the past 11 years including Harbor Master, Project Manager, Operations Manager and most recently General Manager of the Pacific Northwest region.

“I come from a family full of sailors and I’m honored to be able to support our sailors at Foss,” Mack said. “I look forward to continuing Foss’ legacy of being Always Safe, Always Ready while providing top-notch service to our customers.”

Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Mack graduated in 2005 from the California Maritime Academy. He resides in Tacoma with his wife and three children.
