Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy rolls out region’s first Integrated Maritime Logistics Certificate


ABU DHABI, 7th July, 2022 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA), the maritime education and training arm of AD Ports Group, today announced that it has rolled out a Certificate of Maritime Logistics, the region’s first integrated certificate allowing trainees to work on a wide range of maritime economics and shipping industry modules.

This certificate consists of four core/compulsory units including Introduction to Navigation, Economics of Shipping and International Trade, Maritime Business, and Legal Principles in Maritime Business.

These basic units prepare the ground for the learner to adopt the fifth specialization among the following twelve specialized units: Port Agency, Liner Trade, Dry Cargo Chartering, Tanker Chartering, Port & Terminal Management, Ship Sale & Purchase, Logistics & Multi- modal Transport, Vessel Operations and Management, Marine Insurance, Maritime Law, Marine Finance and Offshore Support Industry.

Dr Yasser Al Wahedi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, said: “We are proud to launch this certificate, the first of its kind in the region, which aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and competencies in maritime economy and the shipping industry through planning and implementing solutions, responding to complex issues and independently performing a wide range of functions without guidance.

“This certificate, recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) and the British Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers (ICS), is designed to meet the needs of people new to the shipping logistics industries and who need to acquire new skills and knowledge for better job opportunities, as well as those who are currently working in these industries and want to take their skills and knowledge to the next level,” he added.
