Cumberland County authorities say a Bridgeton man was fatally shot early Saturday morning and the search for two armed and dangerous suspects continues.
According to the Bridgeton Police Department, their officers were called to the Maple Gardens apartment complex off South East Ave. around 3 a.m. for a report of several people fighting and gunfire.
There cops found one victim, Herbert R. Lee, 36, who was taken to Inspira Hospital in Bridgeton where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Officers arrested a person at the apartment complex, Kvaughn Walker, 22, of Bridgeton, who was charged with possession of a handgun, but authorities said he was not involved in the shooting.
Following an investigation, police say arrest warrants have been issued for Ryan A. Askins, 29, of Bridgeton (pictured) for murder and weapons-related offenses and Desmond L. Bethel, 29 , also of Bridgeton, for weapons-related offenses.
An additional charge of evading police was also signed against Askins on Saturday afternoon by Millville police who, along with detectives, spotted him driving his 2011 Audi A6 in the town. Cops briefly chased the vehicle before ending the pursuit for safety reasons.
