ARES shipyard forges ahead in Qatar to support maritime security

The Ministry of Interior of Qatar recently announced the award of another contract to Turkish shipyard ARES for 3 (three) fast interceptor boats which will be delivered in early 2023. supporting Qatar’s maritime security operations with the confidence created by the successful delivery of the entire Qatar Coast Guard Next Generation Patrol Vessel fleet comprising 31 (thirty-one) vessels over the past six years.

The advanced composite hull and IACS rated ARES 40 FIC fast interceptor boats have quite a remarkable speed capability of 60 (sixty) knots to conduct fast intercept, boarding, escort missions as well as rescue operations. fight against human trafficking and smuggling. With a range of over 250 nautical miles, the ARES 40 FICs are capable of covering all the exclusive economic zones surrounding the Qatar peninsula. The craft has the capability to carry remote-controlled, self-stabilizing 12.7mm weapon stations supported by electro-optical sensors on the roof.

The announcement of the contract was officially made by the Ministry of Interior during the MILIPOL exhibition in Doha on May 25, 2022, where the ARES shipyard has for many years been the permanent participant and exhibitor of the event. .
