As summer draws to a close, you may be looking forward to back-to-school shopping. And I don’t blame you! Shopping for school supplies and closet pieces is one of my favorite parts of fall. For me, back-to-school shopping also means care products for dry skin. Over the past few years I’ve tried so many different products that just didn’t work. If your skin is dry and you haven’t established a routine yet, save yourself the same frustration by checking out my holy grail products!
1. Aveda Scalp Benefits™ Shampoo and Conditioner
When the air is dry, my scalp always gets dry too. Fortunately, Aveda’s Scalp Benefits™ line has been a lifesaver. The shampoo and conditioner both contain burdock root, echinacea and sage to nourish the scalp (and it works on all hair types!). Aveda is also cruelty-free and uses post-consumer recycled materials in its packaging.
2. Fees® Sugar Recovery Advanced Therapy Lip Mask
This lip mask is definitely the best I have ever tried. Believe me, I’ve tried more lip masks than I can count. This lip mask contains shea butter, sugar and berry wax, leaving your lips softer overnight.

3. Dotcom Brighter Balm
If you’re looking for a daytime lip product that hydrates your lips, Glossier’s Balm Dotcom Universal Skin Balm is one of my favorites. It comes in 10 different colors and contains castor oil and beeswax. The pomade has a dense, waxy texture, which locks in moisture.
Get this balm for $15 at Glossier.
4. Aveda hand relief™ moisturizer
Without being dramatic, but the discovery of this hand cream has changed my life. Before trying it, I thought hand creams were useless because they only made my hands slippery. Aveda’s Hand Relief™ Moisturizer sinks into skin immediately, leaving my hands incredibly soft and hydrated. It is also free from harmful ingredients like paraben and formaldehyde.
Get this Hand cream for $14+ from Aveda.
5. The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisturizer
Back when I was a lifeguard, the constant exposure to chlorine wreaked havoc on my skin barrier. This moisturizer from The Body Shop was the only product that gave relief to my skin. It contains hyaluronic acid and raspberry seed oil, bringing moisture back into the skin.
Get this moisturizer for $24+ at The Body Shop.
6. Eminence Calm Skin Chamomile Moisturizer
I first encountered this moisturizer during a spa facial in Banff, AB. This award-winning moisturizer contains chamomile, shea butter, calendula and arnica. This moisturizer is perfect for soothing red, irritated and sensitive skin and I can’t recommend it enough.
Get this moisturizer for $69 at Eminence.
7. Glaxal Base Moisturizing Cream
If you are a generally undemanding person, this cream is perfect for you. It is hypoallergenic, non-medicated and unscented. I have a big jar of this cream on my bedside table and use it whenever my skin feels dry. It’s fast, clean and simple to use!
Get this moisturizer for $29.99 and up at Shoppers Drug Mart.
8. Ordinary marine hyaluronics
This serum was actually one of the first products I tried from The Ordinary, and it’s one of the only ones I still use to this day. It feels like water on the skin and sinks in immediately, leaving my face smooth and hydrated without feeling greasy. Remember, a little goes a long way.
If you have dry skin this fall, I highly recommend all of these products. I’ve tried so many different creams, moisturizers, and serums, and I can confidently say these are the best. But don’t just take my word for it, try them out and see for yourself!
